Shilpi adds another 2 golds to her tally

Shilpi Khatun of Bangladesh Army added two more gold medals in the 39th National Cycling Championship yesterday at Bangladesh Army Stadium in the capital.

Shilpi who won her first gold medal one the opening day (Thursday) in 500-metre time trial, bagged her second gold in 1000-metre on Friday to become the fastest woman cyclist of the country.  Nabila Yasmin Mala of Ansar finished second and Beauty Ara of Army clinched the bronze.

Later Shilpi led her Bangladesh Army team to clinch the 1200-metre team time trial. Although she has finished  her individual events, Shilipi has two more team event on the concluding day today.

The women’s 10KM individual road time trial gold went to  Suparna Barma of Bangladesh Ansar. Her teammate  Geeti Rani earned the silver and Nasreen Akhtar of BJMC got the bronze.

Alamgir Hossain of  Bangladesh Army ran away with the men’s fastest cyclist crown when he became first in the 1000-metre sprint event. Biswas Faisal of Bagerhat DSA followed Alamgir in second position and  Tariqul Islam bagged the bronze..

Shariful Islam of Ansar  went on to win the men’s 20km individual road time event. BGB’s  Sabur Hasan earned the silver, while Helal Hossain of Army won the bronze.

BJMC’s Mohammed Jewel  won the lone gold for his team on the second day winning the  1500-metre scratch race. Syed Rezaul Islam of Khulan bagged the silver and Sumon Reza of BGB earned the bronze.

T the end of the second day Bangladesh Army established a clean lead over their opponents earning eight gold medals.  Ansar followed them with four gold and BJMC won the remaining two golds.
