HP team to play a number of practice matches in all formats

The High Performance (HP) team of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will play a string of matches across the formats before the end of their regular training period of the 2018 season as HP head coach Jafrul Ehsan said.

The matches, splitting into three legs, will be played in Dhaka and Chattogram across the country. Jafrul also said that this exclusive and need-based team, revived by the BCB in 2015 for the demand of the national team and future pipeline players, will play two matches in Dhaka against a combined team.

“HP team will play their first game against a combined team at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur today (Saturday). The second match of the first leg will be played at the same ground on Sunday against the same opponent,” Jafrul Ehsan said.

“Both the matches at the first leg in Dhaka will be Twenty20 affairs,” Ehsan told The Independent.

The team will then travel to Chattogram for the second leg, under which they will play another two-match series against Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team, who are preparing themselves for the upcoming ACC Under-19 Asia Cup hosted by Bangladesh in between September (29) and October (7).

“The first match between the HP and the Under-19 will be held at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) on September 11. The second and last match of the Chattogram leg will be decided at the same ground on September 13,” the head coach informed. Thereafter, the HP will return to Dhaka from Chattogram for the last leg, under which they will play a one-off fixture of four-dayer to be staged at the SBNCS. This will be season-ending match for the HP squad.

“The HP campaign of the 2018 season will be wrapped up with the four-dayer tie to be played at the SBNCS on September 17. Since then, the squad players will be released for the new domestic cricket season that will be opened with the National Cricket League in the first week of October,” Jafrul said.
