Police end raid in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: Police have ended raids in Meherchandi areas adjacent to the Rajshahi University,  that were undertaken as part of efforts to curb militancy, drug and terrorism. A joint team of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police and its Detective Brunch (DB) jointly conducted the raid at the various parts of Meherchandi area under Chandrima police station yesterday morning. Based on this raid, additional law enforcers were deployed to assist the raid and they however, searched every house of the area. Amir Zafar, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Boalia Zone) led the raid expedition.   

"We began the raids acting on a tip off, but have called off the search at 1:30 pm as we found nothing”, said Amir Zafar.  Earlier, Senior Assistant Commissioner Ifte Khayer Alam, spoke man of RMP, told this correspondent that the raids, which the law enforcement officials call block raids, began Monday morning around 10am.
