Unilever accords reception to BAF Shaheen College

Unilever’s hair care brand Clear Men accorded a reception to BAF Shaheen College, the runners-up of Clear Men Under-17 Football Tournament. The reception was held at a restaurant in the capital.

Sonadighi High College of Rajshahi became champions with a late goal. Biplob Tirk brought the match winning goal for Sonadigihi High College who were given a separate reception in Rajshahi. Sonadighi College received Tk 2.50 lakh as prize money, while BAF Shaheen College earned Tk one lakh as cash reward.

Bangladesh Football Federation Vice-President Tabith Awal and Tabassum Nadia, Manager of Unilever Bangladesh Central Northern Zone handed over jersey to each and every player of Shaheen College. Tabith Awal handed over a silver plate to runners-up team. Majedul Islam, chairman of Inception 30 was also present.

Shafiqul Islam Raja, captain of Shaheen College along with his teammates celebrated the occasion and vowed to continue their success in the coming years. They admitted their final opponents played better game and they deserved the title. Raja thanked Uniliver and BFF for jointly orginising the tournament a very success. “I hoped that within next three to four years the country has every possibility to get some players at national level.”

The organizers told the media that 272 schools from different part of the country took part in the tournament.  Tabassum Nadia said they have every wish to sponsor the tournament each and every year. Tabith Awal thinks this type of age group football tournament would definitely  help the national to better and develop the game.

The organizers selected 27 outstanding players from different school teams and they will attend a year long special coaching programme at BKSP under local coaches. “ after two or three years the players will be eligible to play for  the national under-19 team, and hopefully some of them would be able to get chance in the Dhaka senior division football league.

They said, “Clear Men is committed to encouraging College based Football. That is why Clear Men has organized such a big event like under-17 Football tournament.”

The reception was followed by a cultural function.
