RUET celebrates founding anniversary

RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) is observing ‘University Day’ amid joy, enthusiasm and fanfare marking its 15th founding anniversary yesterday. The day’s programme began in the morning with hoisting of national flag followed by plantation of tree saplings on the campus. Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university Professor Rafiqul Islam Sheikh opened the daylong programmes.

Marking the day, a large number of teachers, students and staff brought out a colorful rally that paraded through the campus. A discussion was also held at the Central auditorium. Addressing a brief meeting on the occasion, VC Prof Islam sought cooperation from all quarters to run the university peacefully and successfully.

IU admission process begins Sept 10

Kushtia:  The application process for admission to first year honors courses at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia under 2018-19 academic sessions will begin on September 10, an IU official said.

The process will continue till October 10, IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif said, adding that the admission tests of 33 departments of the university will be held in 4 units from this year. He also said the admission test will take place on November 4 to 7 while 2275 seats will be filled up as per the merit list and 161 seats from the quota. Prize giving ceremony held at BRUR

RANGPUR: Academicians at a function held at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) on Thursday called upon students to follow the ideals of Bangabandhu for serving the nation with patriotism.

They made the call at a function arranged for distribution of prizes of an essay competition organised in observance of the National Mourning Day-2018 and 43rd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The BRUR authority organised the essay competition on “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman: Student Life and Political Thought” participated by students of different departments under all six faculties. Vice-chancellor of the university Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah addressed the function as chief guest held at Academic Building No-2.

Convener of the National Mourning Day-2018 Observance Committee and President of Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association Professor Dr Gazi Mazharul Anwar presided over the function. Dean of the Faculty of Arts of BRUR Professor Dr Parimal Chandra Barman as special guest attended the function moderated by Member-secretary of the observance committee HM Tarikul Islam.
