I want to act until my last breath: Tamalika

National Film Award winning actress Tamalika Karmakar has just passed another year of her blissful life as today is the actress’s birthday. The actress has enthralled the viewers for decades with her performances on both stage and screen. However, the actress has also completed 26-year eventful journey in acting career.

Tamalika has been expressing interest in acting, singing, dancing and recitation from a very early age. Over the years, she has established herself as an eminent actress. She secured the best award in recitation, acting and dance category in ‘Notun Kuri’ in 1978 and 1980. National Film Award winning actor-playwright-director Mamunur Rashid introduced her with stage drama by recruiting her to the theatre troupe Aranyak Natyadal in January, 1992. Since then, the actress has been performing only for this troupe.

She debuted in the theatre play ‘Pathor’, produced by Azizul Hakim, while she first acted in a tele-drama ‘Alor Dwip Prohor’, produced by Nasir Uddin Yousuf, at the very young age.

The actress’ made her film debut with Sheikh Neyamat’s ‘Onno Jibon’. However, it was her amazing portrayal in the film ‘Kittonkhola’ which earned her the National Film Award.

About her birthday, Tamalika said, “I usually do not celebrate my birthday. Neither, there is any special celebration nor I give schedule for shooting on this day. I just spend the day in a homely manner.”

“I am grateful to the audiences who wait to see my performance in drama. Also, I am indebted to my theatre mentor Mamunur Rashid for introducing me to the world of acting. I want to act my whole life until my last breath”, she added further.

The actress was appreciated for her several Eid projects during last Eid-ul-Fitr, such as Salauddin Lavlu’s ‘Facebook Bhalobasha’, Chaynika Chowdhury’ ‘Dupur Belar Choto Golpo’, Animesh Aich’s ‘Gulnehar’.
