Chhayanaut holds 
two-day ‘Nazrul Utsab’

Chhayanaut, one of the most prominent cultural organisations in the country, organised a two-day festival titled ‘Nazrul Utsab 1425’ on its premises in Dhanmondi of the capital on Friday and Saturday.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Chhayanaut’s life-time president Sufia Kamal, which fell on June 20, and also to celebrate birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam, which fell May 25, Chhayanaut organised the two-day festival since 1416. The poet-litterateur-activist Sufia Kamal was a devoted follower of Kazi Nazrul Islam.

The event began with a chorus rendition of ‘Anjali Loho Mor’ on Friday evening. At the event, vice president of Chhayanaut Khairul Anam Shakil delivered the welcome speech, while Dhaka University professor Begum Akhtar Kamal attended as a discussant.  

In the cultural part on the first day, Ferdous Ara, Yasmin Mushtari, Yakub Ali Khan, Khairul Anam Shakil, Mofizur Rahman and others gave solo music performance. Sumon Manumder rendered ‘Bedona Bihobol Pagol Pubali Pobone’, Promita Dey rendered ‘Borosha Oi Elo Borosha’, Sumon Chowdhury rendered ‘E Ghono Ghor Raate’, Nowshin Tabassum rendered ‘Tumi Sundor Kopot He Nath’, Kaniz Husna rendered ‘Megher Domru Ghono Baje’, Tanvir Ahmed ‘Tomar Banire Korini Grohon’, Zannat-E Ferdousi Lucky ‘Kotha Kou, Kou Kotha’, Oishoaja Somaddar rendered  ‘Shaon Ashilo Phire’, Nahiyan Suchi renderd ‘Elo Shamol Kishor Tomal Dale Badho’ and Sonjay Kabiraj rendered ‘Shaono Raate Jodi Smorone Ase More’.

Besides, Bhaskar Bandyopadhyay and Kazi Madina recited Nazrul poems on the first day of the two-day festival.

The second day of the programme featured solo music performance, recitation, chorus rendition and dance performances.
