Shinepukur grab second spot

In another day of the century-galore in Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, Shadman Islam Anik starred in with an epic 144 not out which propelled his side Shinepukur Sporting Club to the second spot of the point table yesterday.
The newcomer Shinepukur, rode on Shadman’s century secured an eight-wicket win over Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The win helped them earn 10 points in eight matches, same as the Legends of Rupganj also collected after their comprehensive six-wicket win over Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan Samity at BKSP ground. Both of them now are four points behind the table topper Abahani Limited but Shinepukur are in the second spot on the basis of net-run-rate.
During what was his second List-A century, Shadman slammed nine fours and two sixes in the innings in which he faced 147 balls. His knock made the target a facile one despite Dhanmondi Club put up 262 before being all out in 49.5 overs. Shinepukur raced to the target thanks to Shadman with nine balls to spare.
Shadman played a major part in a 95-run opening stand with Fardeen Hasan and also put on an unbroken 121 runs for the third wicket with Towhid Hridoy (50).
Ziaur Rahman top-scored with 79 while Hasanuzzaman struck 61 for Dhanmondi. Most of their batsman got a start but failed to carry on, largely because of disciplined bowling effort from the Shinepukur bowlers. New-ball bowlers Mohammad Saifuddin and Sujon Hawlader and spinners Shuvagata Hom and Abdul Gaffar picked up two wickets each.
Half-centuries from Mohammad Naim and Naeem Islam took Legends of Rupganj to their fifth win, beating Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity by six wickets at the BKSP-3 ground.
The pair added 144 runs for the third wicket, a partnership that was instrumental in Rupganj’s victory with 21 balls to spare. The 18-year old Naim's 81 off 96 the top score of the innings. Captain Naeem made 70 off 64 balls, aided by three fours and two sixes. Their effort trumped the magnificent 116 runs of Robiul Islam Robi whose knocked helped Khelaghar manage a decent 259 for four in 50 overs. Robi struck 13 fours and a six in his 138-ball knock. He also added 182 runs for the second wicket with Mahidul Islam Ankon, who carried his good form, hitting 80 off 125 balls. But still they had to concede a defeat without much resistance.
Junaid Siddique's sixth List-A hundred powered Brothers Union to a crushing 131-run win over Kalabagan Krira Chakra at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Cricket Stadium at Fatullah. Junaid clubbed 16 fours and two sixes, his 123 off 111 providing the ballast for a total of 317 for four.
Junaid added 205 runs for the second wicket with Myshukur Rahaman, who missed out a hundred of his own by four runs, finishing with three sixes and six fours.
Kalabagan were bowled out for 186 runs in 45 overs, with only four batsmen reaching double-figures. Muktar Ali top-scored with an unbeaten 62 that included half a dozen sixes. Left-arm spinner Sohrawordi Shuvo took three wickets.
