DSE, CSE witness marginal rise

Stocks witnessed a marginal rise on both the bourses-Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) yesterday, reports BSS.

The prime index of the DSE, DSEX went up by 5.80 points to settle at 5,828 on the day though the turnover slipped to Tk 274 crore, the lowest in more than 20 months. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also witnessed a fractional gain of 0.19 point to finish at 2,144. However, the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost a fractional 0.26 points to close at 1,373.

The losers took a modest lead over the gainers as out of 334 issues traded, 162 closed lower while 120 higher and 52 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Top five gainers were Summit Alliance Port, Premier Leasing, Takaful Insurance, ICB AMCL Sonali Bank Mutual Fund and Continental Insurance. Asia Pacific Insurance, Central Insurance, Sonargaon Textile, BIFC and Jahin Spinnings were the top losers.

The port city bourse - the Chittagong Stock Exchange - (CSE) also ended higher with CSE All Shares Price Index- CAPSI- advancing 7.75 points to finish at 18000.

Losers beat gainers as 215 issues were traded, 79 closed higher while 100 lower on the CSE. The port city bourse traded 44.12 lakh shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 24.36 crore in turnover.
