The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) yesterday approved six projects, including one to construct multistoreyed buildings for insolvent freedom fighters in every district and upazila across the country, reports UNB. The approval came from the 19th ECNEC meeting of the current fiscal year, held at the NEC conference room here with Ecnec Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

There will be total 8,000 flats, each having 982-square feet space, in the multistorey buildings for insolvent freedom fighters under the project which will be implemented by June 2020.

The Liberation War Affairs Ministry placed the project as the Prime Minister on January 18, 2015 gave directives during her visit to the ministry to allocate 10,000 flats among insolvent freedom fighters across the country by constructing multistoreyed buildings, he said.

The objective of the project is to improve the lifestyle of freedom fighters who fell behind socio-economically, he added.
