Bangladesh still in 197th position

World champions Germany remain the top spot in the FIFA rankings, while Bangladesh remains at the 197 position. The FIFA published the latest rankings on Thursday. There was no move in the top 10 rankings.

Bangladesh national football team last played their international match against Bhutan on October 10, 2016 and because of that Bangladesh’s rating points remain unaffected at 33 points.

According to the rankings, India remained at 102nd position while Myanmar, Afghanistan, Nepal and Bhutan are also ahead of Bangladesh by securing the 142nd, 148th, 165th and 188th positions respectively.

Sri Lanka with 200th position and Pakistan with 203rd position are  trailing behind Bangladesh in the region.

Besides, Iceland were the only climbers in the top 20, up two places to 18th having thrashed minnows Indonesia in two friendlies in January.

Olympic champions Brazil are second in the rankings with European title-holders Portugal third.

Mexico is the top North and Central American team in 17th, Tunisia lead the Africans in 23rd while 33rd-ranked Iran are leading in Asia.

World Cup hosts Russia, who have been playing only friendlies for the last two years are 61st.

The top 10 is dominated by Europe with seven teams, while South America provides the other three including Brazil, Argentina and Chile.
