Shimul Biswas, JCD president among 39 remanded

Two separate Dhaka courts yesterday granted a five-day remand each for BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's special assistant Samsur Rahman alias Shimul Biswas and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) President Rajib Ahsan in two separate cases, reports UNB. Shimul was remanded in a case filed under Special Power Act with Shahbagh Police Station. Twenty four leaders and activists were also placed on a two-day remand each in the same case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sattabrota Sikdar passed the order rejecting their bail prayers. The court also sent eight female accused to jail for interrogation at the jail gate within one working day. Earlier on Thursday, the investigation officer of the case and sub-inspector of

Shahbagh Police Station Mahbubul Alam prayed a ten-day remand of thirty three accused in the case filed under Special Power Act. Rajib was remanded in a sabotage case filed with Paltan Police Station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mazharul Islam passed the order after police produced 14 people, including Rajib Ahsan, before it with a 10-day remand petition.

Besides, the 13 other detainees were put on one-day remand each.

Earlier on Thursday,

police arrested Rajib Ahsan and others from BNP's Nayapaltan central office area.
