Two held with 5.8kg gold at airport

Customs intelligence arrested two men along with 31 gold bars, weighing 5.8 kilograms, from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Thursday evening, reports UNB.

Keramat Ali, 58, hailing from Feni, and Lokman, 58, hailing from Kadamtoli in Dhaka landed at the airport from Chittagong by a Regent Airway flight coming from Bangkok, said Director General of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) Moinul Khan.

After they crossed the domestic flight point, a CIID team challenged them and recovered the gold bars, worth 2.90 crore, concealed in their dresses, shoes and mobile covers. Later, the team detained the duo and handed them over to Airport Police Station.
