Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has started a new innings of fatherhood as he became a father of newborn son on Monday morning.

Mushfiqur’s wife Jannatul Kifayet gave birth to their first son at a city’s hospital at 9:30am.

The cricketer seeking prayers and blessings for his neonatal child gave a status, in where he said, “Allah has blessed us with a little Angel and we request you to bless our baby with your warmth and prayer please...JAZAKALLAH KHAYR.”

After the conclusion of the first Test in Chittagong, the 29-year-old Musfiqur boarded on a flight to Dhaka on Sunday evening to stay beside his expected wife.

Earlier, Mushfiqur’s father Mahbub Hamid confirmed the news and said Mushfiq’s son was born at 9:30am at Square Hospital this morning. Both the mother and the son are sound and healthy.

“His grandson resembles his father (Mushfiq). We, the members of the family, are very happy. His name is yet to fix,” Mahbub Hamid told media.

“We’ll fix our baby son’s name consulting with all the members of the family,” he informed.
