Girl commits suicide after being barred from SSC exams

A teenage girl, who was barred from sitting Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations this year, allegedly committed suicide at her house in Kunjhachhaya Residential Area under Bayezid Police Station in the port city on Wednesday night. The deceased was identified as Nasrin Akhter, 16, daughter of day labourer Nasir Hawlader hailed from Mehediganj upazila of Barisal district.
 “Nasrin, who was a student of Humayun Kabir High School in the city’s Mohammad Nagar area and used to live with her parents at a rented house at Jashim Colony, Road No 2, Kunjhachhaya Residential Area, was not allowed to sit the SSC examination as she failed in three subjects in the test examination. However, she did not disclose the mater to her parents. At around 5:30pm the schoolgirl was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her house,” said Abu Kalam, officer-in-charge of Bayezid police station. An unnatural death case was filed with the police station, said the OC.
