Govt appoints 56 justices, 684 judges

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq said the present government has appointed 56 justices as additional justice in High Court Division and 684 judges in the lower court, reports BSS.

“We have given promotion to 19 justices in the appellate division,” he said this, while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member M Nazrul Islam Babu of Narayanganj-2 in the Jatiya Sangsad yesterday.

The minister informed the House that the government recruited 56 justices as additional justice in the High Court Division and they were appointed as permanent justice.

He said the government has undertaken training programme for building capacity of judges in the lower court, adding, “The capacity building programme has kicked off for providing training to 540 judges in the Western Sydney University of Australia.”

Meanwhile, 63 judges have already taken capacity building training and government order is published for sending 160 more judges for training in Australia under the programme, Anisul Huq added.

Besides, 76 judges received training from National Judicial Academy, Bhupal in India and 15 judges were in Japan with JICA finance, he told the House.
