A 10-day festival of instrumental music titled ‘National Instrumental Music Festival 2018’ is set to kick off today in the capital. The first edition of the national-level musical event will be inaugurated at 4pm today at the Nandan Mancha of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will inaugurate the festival. Presided over by BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky, noted guitar player Enamul Kabir will be present as special guest. The welcome speech will be delivered by festival coordinator Komol Khalid.

The core aspiration of ‘National Instrumental Music Festival 2018’ is to preserve and introduce people with the enriched art of instrumental music of Bangladesh, which is gradually fading due to the popularity of Western music. Artistes from different districts and organizations will perform in the music festival, so the art stays aloof and the artistes have a platform to give their performance in front of audiences.

The festival is open to all everyday from 4pm to 9pm, until January 10.

On the occasion of ‘National Instrumental Music Festival 2018’, a press conference was held on December 30 on the premises of Shilpakala Academy. BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky and academy secretary Jahangir Hossain Chowdhury, among others, were present at the press meet.
