Stabbed cop brought to DMCH

A police constable, who was stabbed by a miscreant at Hasanpur area on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Daudkandi upazila on Tuesday night, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Wednesday.

Md Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Daudkandi Model Police Station said Md Hasan, 30, a constable of the police station received stab injuries in the area around 9pm while he was returning to the police station by motorcycle after finishing investigation of a case at Gouripur investigation centre. The miscreants intercepted his motorcycle and stabbed him indiscriminately leaving him critically injured.

2 held with 36,400 yaba tablets

CHITTAGONG: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two youths with 36,400 pieces of contraband yaba tablets after searching a truck

at Patiya sadar upazila in Chittagong  yesterday morning.

The arrested were identified as truck driver Ramzan Hossain,32, and Mizanur Rahman,27.

On a tip-off, a team of RAB arrested them with the drug after searching a city-bound Truck near Chanda cinema area under Patiya upazila around 7 am, RAB sources said.

Later, they were handed over to Patiya thana police.

A case was filed against them in this connection, the sources added. The law enforces also seized the truck.

Bangabandhu Memorial Trust meets

A meeting of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust was held at Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi in the capital on Wednesday evening.

Chairperson of the trust and elder daughter of the Father of the Nation Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting. The meeting reviewed the social welfare activities of the trust and decided to carry forward its different projects faster. The meeting also adopted a proposal following the Unesco's recognition of the historic 7th March speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a world documentary heritage.

2 held for running liquor business

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested an indigenous duo along with 97000 liters of liquor worth Tk 4.85 crore from Sonaichhari Kangpara of Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban on Wednesday.

The arrested were identified as Chasing Marma, 44 and Chingwain Marma, 36 of the area.  ASP Mimtanur Rahman, a senior assistant director (media) of Rab-7, said upon receiving secret information of producing, storing and trading home-made liquor, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area and arrested the duo and recovered 97,000 liters of home-made liquor.
