Idle money to be 
used in dev work
The cabinet yesterday gave its nod for a draft Act which will facilitate deposition of money lying idle in 68 state-owned and autonomous, semi-autonomous and public non-financial corporations to the national exchequer. The Act will arm the government to take control of nearly Tk 212,100 crore deposited in banks by state-owned organizations and use the amount in various development works. Upon the enactment of the act, the autonomous or semi autonomous bodies such as Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC), Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), and the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) will be compelled to deposit their idle money with the national exchequer after covering their operational expenses.
