Terror attacks on NZ mosques kill 49
At least three Bangladeshis are among 49 devotees killed after a ‘right-wing extremist’ armed with semi-automatic weapons rampaged through two mosques in the quiet New Zealand city of Christchurch during afternoon prayers yesterday. As per local media reports, at least 48 others were injured in the attack. The attacker has been initially identified as Australian national Brenton Tarrant. According to Bangladesh’s honorary consul in Auckland Shafiqur Rahman Bhuiyan, seven other Bangladeshis were in hospital with injuries. He also said that several other Bangladeshis still remained missing.
