EC rejects 786 nominations
A total of 786 nomination papers, including those of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and several other heavyweight candidate aspirants of different political parties, were declared invalid on various grounds by the Election Commission yesterday. The commission also validated 2,279 candidatures for the upcoming 11th Parliamentary Election scheduled to be held on December 30. Those who have seen their nominations rejected, however, can appeal the EC decision with the Election Tribunal by December 5, and the hearings on the appeals will be held on December 6, 7 and 8.
