Focus on Khulna
The Khulna City Corporation (KCC) polls will be held today amid apprehensions of vote rigging, violence and election boycott. The election will begin at 8am and continue till 4 pm without a break. A general holiday has been announced in areas under the KCC jurisdiction. Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) has completed all preparations for the civic polls, including deployment of law enforcement personnel and executive magistrates and sending election materials to the polling centres. According to the EC, 493,093 voters will cast votes at 1,561 booths of 289 poling centres in KCC’s 31 wards. Among the voters, 248,986 are men and 244,107 women.
