In line with the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s pledge of stubbing out “tobacco production by 2041”, the government has started walking its talk by putting a few important decisions in motion. A letter signed by Finance Minister AMA Muhith, that also has the name of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in place for the signatory without her sign on it, was recently sent to some of the cabinet members who head the portfolios relating to tobacco farming and production.
