The ruling Awami League started knocking on the doors of foreign nations in a bid to garner international support for the Sheikh Hasina government in the next parliamentary election to be held by the end of this year. The ruling party leaders feel that they need international support in the next polls to remain in power. The earlier national election, held on January 5, 2014, was boycotted by the country’s major opposition BNP.
