AL, BNP get ready for city poll face-off
The country is likely to witness a dress rehearsal for the general election from December onwards. The Awami League (AL) and the BNP are preparing to display their strengths in six city corporation polls ahead of the next general election, which is slated to be held either in December 2018 or January 2019. The Election Commission (EC) has already fixed December 21 as the polling day for the Rangpur City Corporation. It will hold elections to five more city corporations—Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet and Gazipur—next year, before the 11th parliamentary polls.
