Two ministries at loggerheads
The foreign and home ministries are at loggerheads over deposits worth Tk 2,200 crore to the government exchequer, collected as fees for machine readable passports (MRPs) and machine readable visas (MRVs) at different missions abroad during the past seven years, disclosed sources in the home ministry.  The home ministry claimed that the foreign ministry issued—through its missions abroad—around 40 lakh MRPs and MRVs, collecting the requisite fees from expatriate Bangladeshis living in different countries since 2010.
