Like the previous years, Channel i organises a fair titled ‘IFIC Bank-Channel i Nazrul Mela’ today on the Channel i premises in the city’s Tejgaon area. The event has been organised on the occasion of the 118th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam today.

This year, Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra singer Shaheen Samad will be bestowed with the lifetime achievement award of Nazrul Mela for her outstanding contribution to the field of Nazrul Sangeet.
To announce the name of this year’s award recipients and reveal detail information regarding the fair, a press conference was held at Channel i office yesterday. Managing Director of Channel i Faridur Reza Sagor, Managing Director of IFIC Bank Shah Alam Sarwar, Nazrul Sangeet singer Sadia Afrin and Shaheen Samad were present at the press conference.
Shaheen Samad expressed her feelings, “The award, given by Channel i, has increased my responsibility towards Nazrul Sangeet.” 
Earlier, Sohrab Hossain, Sudhin Das, Feroza Begum, Nazrul researcher professor Rafiqul Islam, Khalid Hossain, Ferdousi Rahman, Mustafa Zaman Abbasi and Ferdous Ara were awarded with ‘Nazrul Mela Award’.
The fair will be inaugurated  today at 4:30pm, which will be attended by Nazrul exponents, Nazrul artistes, cultural personalities, litterateurs, editors from different media houses and directors of Channel i, among others.
This year, Nazrul Mela will feature the performance of Nazrul Sangeet by young and veteran singers, dance-drama, children’s dance, reciting Nazrul’s poems, reading out his essays and drawing on Nazrul.
Besides, about 15 stalls of small and handicraft industries will be set up on the fair premises. The fair will showcase Nazrul’s books, Nazrul related books, CD, literature and films.
