AIUB observes ‘MIS Day’ 
The Department of Management Information Systems organised (MIS) the first ever ‘MIS Day’ on American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) premises on Monday, says a press release.
The event was officially inaugurated by the AIUB Vice-Chancellor Dr Carmen Zita Lamagna in the morning. Dr Charles C Villanueva, Pro-Vice Chancellor & Dean Faculty of Business Administration, Prof Tofazzal Hossain, vice- president, Academics, Prof Siddique Hossain, dean Faculty of Engineering, Dr Tabin Hasan, Department Head of MIS, Manzur H Khan, Director of OSA were also presence.  The Vice-Chancellor visited the Poster Presentations by students on different topics of MIS, ranging from usage, practice and implementation in both private and public sectors. Students also presented various business tech ideas that are both relevant and useful in the current day and age both from technology and business standpoint. A Digital Poster competition was held in Social Media that generated huge participation by students from all departments. A talk show on “Practices and Opportunities of MIS in the Industry” was held in the afternoon with participants from banking and telecom industry, as well as from the Government of Bangladesh.  Several workshops on topics such as SAP, E-commerce and Woocommerce were also held. Students from all departments participated in these workshops to attain practical experience on the assigned topic.

RU programmes for Martyred Intellectuals Day, Victory Day
RAJSHAHI: The Rajshahi University (RU) is ready to observe the Intellectuals Day and the 46th Victory Day on December 14 and 16 respectively through paying homage to the heroic sons.
It was confirmed by student advisor Prof Mizanur Rahman through a press release.  marking the Martyred Intellectuals Day, RU authority has chalked out programmes, including hoisting the national flag half atop the academic buildings, administrative building and residential dormitories, placing wreaths at Shaheed Minar at 7.15am, by Teachers Association, officers-employers’ associations, discussion at varsity’s senate building at 10.30am. On the Victory Day, the programmes are including placing wreaths at Shaheed Minar on behalf of the university authority and different organisations. Among others, at hoisting national flag atop the academic buildings, administration buildings and dormitories, mourning procession at 7.30am, placing wreaths on university mass graveyard at 8am, march past of Bangladesh National Cadet Core (BNCC), Rover Scout, Muktijodddha Sangsad Command RU unit and University School & College at 10am at Shabash Bangadesh Chattar of the varsity, the release added.  Besides, art competition for the children at 10.30am, special prayer for will also offer at central mosque of the varsity after Asr prayer. Note, the martyred archives at university and Barendra Research museum will remain opened from 11am to 5pm on the days for the visitors. 

Workshop computational intelligence begins today
SAVAR: A two-day international workshop on Computational Intelligence (CI)-2016 will be started from today at Jahangirnagar University (JU).
In association with, Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) of Bangladesh section, Computer Science and Engineering department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) and South Asian University of India will jointly organise this workshop for the first period. JU Vice-Chancellor Dr Farzana Islam will be expected to inaugurate the event at Zahir Raihan auditorium on campus while the former JU vice chancellor and the member of public service commission Dr Sharif Enamul Kabir will expect to attend the programme as the chief guest.  A total of 15 internationally reputed computational intelligence researchers will expect to attend the workshop. 

‘Rokeya's philosophy should be highlighted’
RANGPUR: Vice-chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr AKM Nurun Nabi has said the philosophy of Rokeya should be highlighted for women empowerment.
"The philosophy and ideals of Rokeya should be implemented properly for establishing freedom of the womenfolk, their empowerment, rights and dignity in every sphere of national life," he said here on Friday. The VC was addressing a post-rally discussion arranged in observance of the Rokeya Day- 2016, the 136th birth and 84th death anniversaries of pioneer of women renaissance in the sub- continent Begum Rokeya, at the varsity's cafeteria here as chief guest.
