KCC mayor monitors Khulna markets

STAFF REPORTER, Khulna

Khulna City Corporation (KCC) mayor Md Moniruzzaman Moni on Saturday morning visited several wholesale and retail markets of Khulna city to witness himself price situation in the markets during holy month of Ramzan.
Team members of the committee visited KDA New market adjacent kitchen market, KCC run Wholesale Kitchen Market at Sonadanga and Khulna Boro Bazar.
In this connection, earlier a daily necessities price monitoring committee has been constituted headed by Chief Revenue Officer (in charge) of KCC Moshiuzzaman Khan.
The visiting committee also asked wholesale and retail dealers to fix prices of some major essential items and display the prices in markets, major shops and wholesale hubs during the period of Ramzan.
Mayor Moni has warned businessmen of stern action in case of any allegation with evidence of hoarding any kind of consumer items to enhance their prices for making fabulous profit.
The mayor Moni called upon the leaders of the business community, in particular the retailers, to sell goods of daily necessities
within the budget of the average consumer so that Khulna residents are not forced to delve deep into their pockets during in the holy month of Ramzan.
Mayor also sought help from people of all walks of life to keep the prices of daily commodities within the reach of the common people during the holy month.
Panel mayor-2 of KCC Hafizur Rahman Hafiz, female councilors (reserve) Rabeya Fahid Hasnahena, Rokeya Faruk and Parveen Akter, Veterinary Surgeon Dr Peru Gopal Biswas, general secretary of KDA New Market Masudur Rahman Gora, sanitary inspectors of KCC, among others, present in the monitoring panel.
