BCB chief hints at renewing coaches contracts

Sports Reporter

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon gave green signal to renew the contract with the coaching staffs of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team.
“Of course, we will want to extend the contract of all the coaching staffs of the Bangladesh team especially head coach Chandika Hathurusingha,” said Nazmul Hassan yesterday.
“If they all will approach and told the board to be with Bangladesh cricket, we will extend all of them,” Papon told media at his residence in the capital  after Jumma prayer.
It is learnt that fast-bowling coach Heath Steak put a request to continue with Bangladesh coach before leaving India for the upcoming IPL yesterday. Streak’s 450 days contract with BCB had already ended. But head coach Hathurusingha’s two-year contract would come to an end this June.
Both of the coaches have already expressed their keen interest to be with the Bangladesh cricket.  Bangladesh are scheduled to tour India to play a one-off Test match series in August this year after the end of the IPL.
But it is airing that they proposed them (India) to play a three-match ODI and two-match T20 International series beside the Test.  In this regard, BCB president said that they proposed to play Test match at Eden Gardens during Bangladesh’s scheduled tour in India in August.
“We told them that we want to play Test match at Eden Gardens. But we didn’t hold any discussion out of it,” he said.
But he said that if he will get chance during his tomorrow’s tour for witnessing the final match he will discuss for the extension of the matches of other formats.
