Shop employee shot dead; Tk 2.90 lakh snatched

Muggers shot dead a shop employee and snatched Tk 2.90 lakh in the city’s Hajipara yesterday afternoon, reports UNB. Police said Md Ismail Hossain, 36, manager of ‘Bangladesh Sanitary’ shop at West Rampura, was going to Dutch-Bangla Bank Rampura branch on foot to deposit Tk 2.90 lakh in the afternoon. When he reached Hajipara Natun Rasta at around 2:30 pm, a gang numbering 3-4 swooped on him and tried to snatch the money. As he resisted, they shot him and fled the scene with the money, leaving him injured. He later died at DMCH, said police.
