‘Sutopar Thikana’ set to hit 4 Malaysian cinemas today

Talented filmmaker Proshoon Rahmaan’s much-anticipated film ‘Sutopar Thikana’ (Her Own Address) is going to see its commercial release in Malaysia today. The government-grant film will be released in four theatres in Malaysia on the occasion of the upcoming Women’s Day.
DhakaLive has news that prior to the screening today, two special screening of the film took place yesterday for the journalists and employees and representatives of AWAM (All Women’s Association of Malaysia) at the Golden Screen Hall in Midvalley, Kuala Lumpur.
As the part of the agreement, signed between Proshoon Rahmaan and Malaysia’s distribution company on February 19, the film will be screened in Kuala Lampur’s Midvalley Golden Screen Cinemas and Pavillion Mega Mall, Petaling Jaya’s 1 Utama Mega Mall and Penang’s Gurney Plaza Multiplex.
After the commercial release of the film, it will also be aired on television in Malaysia and Brunei. On the other hand, the film is likely to be released in the countries like Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia and Vietnam.
Aparna Ghosh and Shahadat Hosain have played lead roles, and important cast of the film includes Jayanta Chatterjee, Mahmudul Islam Mithu, Khorshed Alam and Saika Ahmed among others. Proshoon Rahmaan’s ‘Sutopar Thikana’ portrays the condition of women in South Asia.
On the occasion of Women’s Day, ‘Sutopar Thikana’ was released in Dhaka on May 8 last year. It was shown in 12 districts and during the Bangladesh Film Festival organised by Shilpakala Academy in December last year, the film was also screened simultaneously in 64 districts in the country.
