Promote new entrepreneurs

Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur Rahman yesterday asked both the public and private sector bankers to put in their best efforts for creating new entrepreneurs, including female ones, for infusing furthermore dynamism into the country’s economy, BSS reports from Rajshahi.
Narrating various aspects of substantial promotion of entrepreneurs in the region, the governor urged the bankers to devote themselves so that a sustainable economic development of the country is ensured in near future.
He came up with the suggestion while sharing views with the new entrepreneurs and heads of all the scheduled banks in the conference hall of BB Rajshahi Branch as chief guest.
With BB Executive Director Zinnatul Bakeya in the chair, BB Executive Director Muniruzzaman, Managing Director of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank Monzur Ahmed and Adviser of National Bank Limited Washif Ali Khan also spoke.
Referring to various recently published international financial reports, Atiur said the prosperous Bangladesh is marching forward on the development highway after overcoming the constraints.
He categorically said Bangladesh has attained significant success in economic growth in comparison with many other countries during the last couple of years. He added that the Bangladesh will be the role model in terms of economic development in the world.
Atiur told the bankers that Bangladesh attained 6.51 per cent growth in last fiscal and the growth rate will be higher in the current fiscal. He mentioned that the role of entrepreneurs is commendable in this regard.
“We will clinch the top position of the prosperous race if successful entrepreneurs are ensured,” Atiur added. He suggested the bankers to stand beside the potential entrepreneurs.
The role of women, especially in the SME sector, is highly appreciable as they are making a commendable contribution to the regional economy, the governor said and asked the bankers to create more women entrepreneurs.
In another programme in Rajshai, Atiur Rahman said the central bank has introduced green banking in the country for the first time to save the nature and environment.
Besides, he said, the bank has adopted various other social responsibility related schemes like CSR, agent banking and students banking for public interests.
