Itís difficult to bat at night: Shakib

Sports Reporter

Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, unarguably the biggest star in BPL, is yet to live up to the billings given his star image but had already shown he is on the course of regaining his full form.
He became the highest wicket-taker in BPL, after his three wickets haul against Barisal Bulls on Monday that took his total tally to 33, overtaking Enamul Haque Junior’s 31. But when he propped up his game with bowling, he didn’t quite replicate the feat in batting which is the reason behind Riders’ 13-run loss to Barisal Bulls in its second match. In batting he contributed just six runs. He went wicket-less in the first match before making just one run against Chittagong Vikings. Another thing that went against him was that he had to play consecutive two matches just after he returned to the country from USA.
However the progress showed that he is on the verge of regaining his full form.
“It is, of course, difficult to come and play without any practice,” said Shakib after the match against Barisal Bulls. “It would be better if I get a day break after each match. And then I could get opportunity to recover it. But nothing to do with it as the tournament is heading to this way. Hopefully I’ll regain the form with the tournament going on.”
“This is the first time that I got down playing soon after landing. It happened in the past but that wasn’t such hectic. I had to play those two matches just after my landing,” he informed.
He reckoned batting as tough at night whatever the target is.
“We got 156 runs to win, in this surface it wasn’t tough at all. A team may not play well everyday but I can say batting night is difficult than day time. It was good wicket though I couldn’t score as I was expected to do.”
Shakib however started a new innings in his life when his wife gave a birth to their first baby girl in USA. He went to USA after getting the happy news just playing the first match of one-day series against Zimbabwe at home on November 8, after claiming his career best ODI bowling figure of five for 47.
Shakib faced media first time at post match presser on Monday after being father. His feelings as the father got more attention in the press conference than analysing the reason of defeat in the match.
“It was good experience, a special feeling what I couldn’t express properly. I put up her first in my hand. It is first time and so everything was special,” he described.
“I was then in flight when I got to know the news of her born. I saw her first through skype after landing in Abu Dhabi,” he informed.
