Admission seekers suffer as strike continues

Our correspondent, Jashore

Admission seekers for first year honours courses of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) are facing problems as transport workers in the district stayed off the road for the fourth consecutive day, although their leaders had announced to withdraw the strike.

No long haul buses and goods-laden vehicles were seen plying on the road in Jashore yesterday morning. According to sources, admission tests for honours first year in JUST was   scheduled to be held  on November 21 and 22.

A large number of students who come from outside Jashore will have to face trouble, said Professor Dr Anwar Hossain, vice chancellor of the university.

The VC, however, said the authorities have already taken initiatives to ease trouble of the admission seekers.

Buses were kept ready at several places on the outskirts and railway stations for the students and their guardians.
