In a bid to regain the title of the Bangladesh Premier League, Abahani Limited formed a stronger side this time than their previous season, when they roped in Kyrgyz national team booter and a Brazilian too.

Abahani, who just maintained the formalities of players’ transfer process for coming season, only submitting the list to the BFF office yesterday without any gathering or colorful rally as Bashundhara, Mohammedan Sporting Club and even the newcomers Police Sporting Club did with a party mood.

Manager of the Abahani Sattayjit Das Rupu when talking to The Independent yesterday said, “We actually want to show our full of character in the ground, If we display clean performance that would be the celebration.”

Abahani Limited, the six times champions of the Bangladesh Premier League football, who were closer to celebrate the second time hat-trick championship when they won the first three edition in a row.

But lost the trophy to Bashundhara Kings, the then newcomers in the premier level and this time they again took the initiative to regain the title forming a formidable side.

Rupu said about the team said, “In fact last season we had some players from whom we could not get full services from them due to their injuries but in absence of them we played the AFC Cup and this time they went to other teams and we made proper replacement.”

“As, Tapu Barman and Atiqur Rahman Fahad, both of them suffered with injuries and this time they joined in other club (Bashundhara) and they were replaced by Nasir Uddin Chowdhury and Sohel Rana, respectively.”

“I think we had three good foreign booters this time when we signed up a Kyrgyzstan national booter Edgar Bernhardt, Indian Chennaiyin FC’s Brazilian captain Mileson Alves and Egyptian Alaa Eldin.”

Rupu thinks that there would be a very good combination with the Haitian forward Kervans Belfort and Sunday Chizoba when the former national booter said, “Edgar is current national team midfielder of Kyrgyzstan and played last season in Malaysian League. Edgar also scored a goal against Bangladesh in the World Cup qualifying 2018 match in their 3-1 victory.”

Rupu, who said that this time gave important in both defense and striking forces, when he said, “If you give a look in last season’s statics, we conceded 28 goals and scored 60 goals, Mileson of Brazil, Alaa Eldin of Egypt and Nasiruddin Chowdhury along with Raiyhan Hassan will be a good combination at the defence.”

“Sunday and Belfort is proven performers at the front when Kyrgyz midfielder will join them, I think we will get an impressive forward line along with Jibon and Jewel Rana.

However, Abahani Limited out of 30 players they made registration, among them two are fresh and three foreign booters and rest of 25 are their last year’s squad.

Meanwhile, Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra also completed their players registration also on the day.

Abdul Kaiyum Sentu head coach of Muktijoddha KC said, "We formed a team with a bunch of young players. Some of the good performers, local and foreign booters have already left us."

"Our target is to maintain the last season's place (7th) but might it would be tough and we will have to work hard."
