Workshop held to ensure South Korean development experience

Staff Reporter, Dhaka

Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) organised Inter-ministerial dissemination workshop to internalise e-government Master Plan among relevant stakeholders of the Bangladesh yesterday at BCC Auditorium in Dhaka, said a press release.

Aligning Bangladesh’s vision of “Digital Bangladesh” by 2021, KOICA initiated a bilateral project titled “Establishment of the e-Government Master Plan for Digital Bangladesh” in collaboration with Bangladesh Computer Council and ICT Division, added the release.

The event was graced by senior secretary of Information and Communication Technology Division N M Zeaul Alam PAA and Country Director of KOICA Bangladesh Joe Hyun-Gue, among others.

According to the release, the e-Government Master Plan report was unveiled on October 20, 2019 by Sajeeb Wazed Joy, ICT Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister. He said, “Our goal is that, by the year 2021, majority of citizen services will be provided either on their fingertips of mobile phones or through our union digital centres at the doorsteps of the people.” He termed the launching of the digital services as ‘buildings blocks’ to implement the Digital Bangladesh.

Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)  said it hopes that the document will serve as a foundation for the government’s “Digital Bangladesh by 2021” programme, which envisions mainstreaming of information technology as a pro-poor tool to reduce poverty, establish good governance and ensure social equity based on the South Korean development experience.
