Dhaka Metropolis batsmen Shamsur Rahman Shuvo and Marshal Ayub struck centuries to keep Barishal Divison at bay in sixth round of the NCL Tier 2 match at the Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat Stadium in Barishal yesterday.

Resuming the first knock from 225 for 2, Shamsur Rahman and Marshal Ayub, remained unbeaten on 90 and 85 respectively the previous day, made no mistake to reach the three figure mark on day three. Before the duo fell shortly scoring 103 and 109, the 187-run stand for the third wicket along with wicket-keeper batsman Zabid Hossain’s  62 helped Metro post 466 all-out with a 52-run lead over the opposition.

With Barishal lost three wickets only for 30 in 16 overs, still trailing by 336 runs with 7 wickets left after day three, Metro will certainly eye their second victory in the tournament as Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny who bagged 4 and 2 wickets respectively in the first knock, are among the wickets in the second innings.

In Tier 1 match between reigning champions Khulna and Dhaka Division, Nurul Hasan Sohan slammed an unbeaten 150 before Khulna bowled out for 379 with a 100-run lead in their first knock at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.

Now Khulna look almost certain to win the NCL title whether they win or draw the last round match.

Tushar Imran, who holds the highest record of hitting centuries in domestic cricket although, missed out after scoring 82, added an invaluable 143-run stand for the fourth wicket for Khulna.

Shuvagata Hom claimed a five-wicket haul for Dhaka Division.
