BSS, Gaibandha

A total of 960 flood affected small and marginal farmers of Sundarganj upazila in the district got high quality mustard seed and fertilizers free of cost under government’s agri incentive programme.

Upazila agriculture office distributed the agri inputs to them to recoup the losses of crops caused by recent floods.

Each of the farmers received one kg of mustard seed, 20-kg of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and 10-kg of Muriate of Potash (MoP).

A simple function was held on the premises of Farmers’ Training Centre of the upazila town on Saturday afternoon on the occasion.

Local lawmaker Barrister Shameem Haider Patwary, upazila chairman M Ashraful Alam Sarker Lebu, assistant commissioner (Land) Russel Miah, and officer-in-charge of Sundarganj Police Station SM Abdus Sobhan were present.

The lawmaker in his speeches said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for overall development of the farmers since 2009.

The government stood by the flood affected small and marginal farmers of the upazila with crop seed and chemical fertilizer to help them to recoup losses caused by natural calamity.
