Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said internet would be the main fuel of industries like gas and power in the era of fourth industrial revolution (4IR).
“In the 4IR, industries would be set up depending on internet . . . So, the government is determined to offer internet to the consumers in same rate,” he added.
The minister was addressing the installation ceremony of the newly elected executive committee of the Internet Service Provider Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) on Saturday night at International Convention Centre, Basundhara, said a press release yesterday.
Mentioning that the roadmap of 5G has already been framed, he said Bangladesh would introduce 5G services in 2021 which would be expanded to each union of the country by 2026.
“Posts and Telecommunications Division is working relentlessly to provide broadband connection to each home as per the 5G roadmap,” revealed Jabbar.
