Govt appoints Imran as high commissioner to India

Nazrul made ambassador to Bahrain

The government has appointed Muhammad Imran as the new high commissioner to India and Dr Md Nazrul Islam as the new ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain. Muhammad Imran is currently serving as Bangladesh Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates while Dr Md Nazrul Islam is the current deputy chief of mission at Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh. High Commissioner designate Imran is a career foreign service officer belonging to the 1986 batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Foreign Affairs cadre, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday.

During his distinguished diplomatic career, Imran worked in various capacities at Bangladesh Missions in Jeddah, Bonn, Berlin and Ottawa as well as Deputy High Commissioner at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission, Kolkata.

He also served as Ambassador of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan. At the headquarters, he served in various capacities in different Wings. Imran had obtained his MBBS degree from Mymensingh Medical College under the University of Dhaka. He will replace current Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali.

Ambassador designate Dr Islam is a career foreign service officer of the 15th batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Foreign Affairs cadre.

In his diplomatic career, Dr. Islam worked in various capacities in Bangladesh Missions in South Korea, Australia, Iraq and Lebanon as well as Deputy Permanent Representative to OIC, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
