ICPC contest on Nov 16 at Southeast University

A contest titled ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) will be held on November 15-16 at Southeast University (SEU), says a press release. The decision was taken at a meeting of the executive committee of ICPC recently. The meeting was chaired by the Vice-chancellor of SEU Prof Dr ANM Meshquat Uddin. Contest director Prof Dr Abul Lais MS Haque, associate contest director Shahriar Manzoor, and the conveners of different sub-committees were present in the meeting.
The contest will take place at main campus of Southeast University in Banani. The prize giving ceremony and celebration of this event would take place at 6:30 pm in Jamuna Future Park. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak  will be present as the chief guest in the prize giving ceremony.
National Prof Jamilur Reza Choudhury, eminent educationist Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal and NM Zeaul Alam, senior secretary Information and Communication Technology Division will be present as special guests in the prize giving ceremony.


Malaysian delegation calls on IU VC
UNB, Islamic University

A two-member delegation of University Malaysia Kelatan, led by its Pro-vice-chancellor Dr Rafi Bin Yeakub, called on Islamic University (IU) Vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari at the latter’s office.
The other member of the delegation was Abdullah Al-Mamun, regional representative of international affairs of the university, IU said in a press release yesterday.
IU Pro-vice-chancellor Professor M Shahinoor Rahman, former proctor and syndicate member Professor M Mahbubar Rahman, international students’ affairs cell head Professor Shahadat Hossain Azad and Assistant Proctor Nasir Al-Azhary were present on the occasion.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues, including the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic programmes and signing a memorandum of understanding between Islamic University and University Malaysia Kelatan.Possibilities of exchange of teachers and students between the two universities were also discussed at the meeting, the press release added.


Fish fries released at DU Bangabandhu Hall
BSS, Dhaka

Fish fry of different species were released on Monday at the pond of Jatir Janak Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall of Dhaka University (DU).
DU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Provost of the hall Prof Dr Mofizur Rhaman, house tutors, union leaders and students of the hall were present at the event.
“The pond was remained abandoned for around a decade. We cleared the water body and experimentally released the fish fries. The initiative may improve the environment of the DU campus,” Prof Mofizur Rahman told BSS.
