Nov 7 rally in capital

BNP yet to get permission

STAFF REPORTER, Dhaka

The BNP wants to hold a rally in the capital on November 7 to mark the ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’ but the party is yet to get police permission. The party has already applied for permission to hold the planned rally either at Suhrawardy Udyan, in front of party central office at Naya Paltan or Mohanagar Natya Mancha at Gulistan, according to party sources. Meanwhile, a two-member BNP delegation yesterday went to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to meet the DMP commissioner to know about the development over permission but they could not meet him. Later, the delegation talked to DMP joint commissioner Monirul Haque and informed him about the party programme. The police official assured them he would let them know about the decision in consultation with the authorities concerned.  Party assistant organising secretary Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, another member of the delegation, expects that they would be given permission to hold the rally.
