Khaleda to be freed through movement, says Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday said Khaleda Zia should be freed through movement following the footsteps of late veteran politician and minister Tariqul Islam.

`We should free Khaleda and democracy to ensure freedom of speech,’ he added while addressing a commemorative meeting marking the first death anniversary of former standing committee member of the party Tariqul Islam held at Jashore District Council Auditorium. Professor Nargis Begum, convener, Jashore district unit BNP chaired the meeting which was arranged by the district unit of the party.

The meeting was addressed, among others, by the party’s standing committee member Gayeswar Chandra Roy and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, vice chairmen Barkat Ullah Bulu, Md Shahjahan, Shamsuzzaman Dudu and Nitai Roy Chowdhury, central leaders Mashiur Rahman, Mehedi Hasan Rumi, Nazrul Islam Manju and Azizul Bari Helal.

The BNP secretary general also said no autocratic government can retain power using guns.’
