IU entry tests begin today

UNB, Islamic University

The admission tests of the first year honours courses under 2019-120 academic session of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia will begin today.

IU acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif told UNB that a total of 61,942 applicants will fight for 2,305 seats this year in the entry tests that will continue till Wednesday.

According to the schedule, the admission test of ‘A’ and ‘C’ units under Theology and Business Administration faculties will be held on Monday while that ‘B unit’ under Humanities and Social Science faculty on Tuesday and the ‘D’ unit admission test under Applied Science and Technology faculty will be held on Wednesday. The entry tests would be held in four shifts in a day. The first shift will be held from 9:30am to 10:30am while the second shift from 11:30am to 12:30pm, third shift from 2pm to 3pm and the fourth shift from 4pm 5pm, the acting registrar siad.

Necessary security measures have been taken to hold the admission tests in a peaceful atmosphere, IU Proctor Prof Paresh Chandra Barman said. Further information regarding the entry tests is available on the university website at www.iu.ac.bd.

MoC signed between AIUB and BSHRM

The American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) recently with Bangladesh Society for Human Resource Management (BSHRM), a society of HR Professionals engaged in providing academic training, development, consultancy, research, evaluation and other development activities in the field of human resource and management, says a press release.

Under this agreement, AIUB & BSHRM will jointly launch PGD (HRM) and Certification in HRM. Also, BSHRM will provide internship opportunities and job placements to AIUB graduates and conduct collaborative research avenues for students and faculty members. The agreement was signed by Dr Carmen Z Lamagna, vice-chancellor of AIUB and Mashequr Rahman Khan, president of BSHRM.  Prof Dr Charles C Villanueva, vice president, academics and dean, Faculty of Business Administration, and Manirul Islam, director CEC & IT attested the signing of the MoC on behalf of AIUB while the BSHRM was represented by Md Kamruzzaman,treasurer and   Kazi Rakib Uddin Ahmed, vice president.

The rest of the BSHRM team who were present during signing composed of  DilrubaSharmin Khan, and GM Sharif both executive councilors.Farheen Hassan, director, BBA Programme,AK Nazmul, director, office of sports, Asif Parvez, deputy registrar, and Hafsa Maryam, course convenor, Department of Management & HRM were also present in the signing ceremony.

Robotics contest held at BUBT

The BUBT EEE Club in association with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organised a robotics contest titled ‘BEC ROBO MANIA 2019’ at the International Conference Hall of the university at Rupnagar in the capital on Saturday, says press release.

Around 70 teams from different universities participated in this contest. Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), inaugurated the contest chief guest.

Prof Shafique Ahmed Siddique, chairman, BUBT Trust, Prof Md Abu Saleh, vice-chancellor, BUBT; Prof Enayet Hossain Miah, treasurer, BUBT; Prof Mian Lutfar Rahman, advisor, Student Affairs & Chief Coordinator, Extra-Curricular Activities, BUBT, Dr Muhammad Fayyaz Khan, Professor, Department of EEE, BUBT and Prof Mohammad Ameer Ali, dean, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, BUBT were the special guests of the inaugural session.

Engr M Azharul Haque, chairman, Department of EEE, BUBT, was the session chair while Md Mahfuzul Haque, Asst Professor of Physics, Department of EEE delivered the welcome speech.
