Environment-friendly civic amenities focused

BSS, Dhaka

As the cities of the country are facing mounting pressure in this era of globalisation, the architects should deftly explore ways to ensure environment friendly civic amenities to cope with the rapidly changing citizen life.

This was stated by the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury while addressing as the chief guest the ‘ARCASIA Forum 20’, arranged by the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) in Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) yesterday, said a press release. To play an important role in improving the quality of life of citizens and ensuring a safe and sound environment, the architects must meet the challenges by tackling climate change disaster through their innovative capabilities, she commented. “Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has already become a developing country and will transform into a developed one within 2041”, Dr Shirin said, added the release.

The government is working to provide the villages with the city facilities through the ‘Gram Hobe Shahar’ project, she added. Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim and president of ARCASIA Rita Soh also spoke as the special guests in the programme.
