Abdur Razzak’s jaw-dropping seven-wicket bursts steered Khulna Division to bundle Rangpur Division out for 224 on the day one of the fourth-round fixture in the Tier-1 of the National Cricket League (NCL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.

Shadman Islam Anik smashed an unbeaten 162 as Dhaka Metro put on 357 for four against Chattogram Division in Tier-2 match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhur Stadium in Chattogram. Elsewhere at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar, Ebadot Hossain’s five-for provided Sylhet Division made a good start as they restricted Barishal Division to a paltry 162.

Despite Nazmul Hossain (56) and Muktar Ali (unbeaten 56) half-centuries, Rajshahi Division put on 230 all-out against Dhaka Division at the Academy Ground of the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar.

Rangpur vs Khulna

Being disregarded from the national team, Khulna captain Abdur Razzak sought to test his bowling instinct to get the surface of ‘Home of Cricket. And so, he invited Rangpur to bat first after winning toss. He proved himself once again that he did not lose his sharpness of his bowling as he alone demolished the innings of Rangpur Division though young pacer Abdul Halim initiated the devastation having caught behind opener Mahmudul Hasan, who fell for 24.

This time Abdur Razzak and Mehedi Hasan claimed two wickets each to compound the Rangpur woes while they were sprawling at 141 for five.

By then, Razzak grabbed five straight wickets that bowled Rangpur out for 224 in 81.1 overs. The experienced spinner touched off the milestone of 600-wicket in first class cricket when he got rid of Robiul Haque.

He was six wickets away from the feat what he captured in the first innings that was really a surprising matter.

He finished his bowling performance with the figures of 7-69 in 24.1 overs. The left-arm-spinner embarked on his devastation with Mehedi Maruf and ended with Rishad Hossain, who top-scored for Rangpur with 42. Nasir Hossain and Suhrawardi Shuvo contributed to the innings with 40 and 34 respectively.
