Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to serve all training facilities to Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who is serving a two-year ICC ban, with one year that of suspended from all forms of cricket for breaching the ICC “Anti-Corruption Code” after failing to report three corrupt approaches. According to a report, BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus revealed that the BCB is considering to provide practice facilities opportunities to Shakib. They are ready to provide that scope only for him.

“We know BCB can provide training facilities. So, we want to give Shakib that opportunity. Although he won’t be allowed to train with the team since the ICC has some restrictions regarding the issue. But he will be given the opportunity to train him separately as if he can return to the field again after the end of his one-year suspension. Considering that we want to make himself ready,” Jalal Yunus said.

In 2014, when the Bangladesh’s then topped highest paid player Mohammad Ashraful handed 8-year suspension from all forms of cricket for his direct involvement in match and spot-fixing in the 2013 BPL, were devoid of all training facilities and his central contract with the Board had also been slapped. But, since Shakib, who didn’t commit any crime like that, the BCB is planning to give him training facilities. In the meantime, Shakib, who is among four players in the A+ category and one of the highest paid BCB players, received a monthly salary of Tk 4 lakh along with Mashrafe Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim, might lose his central contract with the Board following his one-year suspension from all cricketing activity.

Talking about Shakib’s central contract with the BCB, Jalal Yunus said, there is a little chance he (Shakib) will receive the amount of money from now on but it has not been fixed yet.” “We haven’t discussed yet over the issue. In a normal sense banned cricketers cannot be in agreement with the Board. We’ve to follow the ICC rules and regulations too. So, everything isn’t at our hands,” he added. Talking about the contract issue BCB cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan said the board will discuss over the issue few days later and take a final decision on it.
