Foreign minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has called for French investment in Bangladesh, especially in the infrastructure, renewable energy, waste management, and information and communication technology (ICT) sectors. He extended this invitation to French business heads at the Bangladesh–France Economic Forum organised by the Senate of France in Paris on Monday. Representatives of the private sector from both Bangladesh and France; officials from government organisations like Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), Ministry of Commerce, and Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority; and members of various French agencies participated at the half-day event, a press release said.

The foreign minister explained the advantages that Bangladesh offers as an investment destination. He placed emphasis on the infrastructure for setting up industries, foreign direct investment (FDI)-friendly regulations, one-stop services, ease of profit remittance, and the availability of a skilled workforce at competitive rates.

Momen highlighted the success of Bangladesh on the road to becoming a middle-income country and the country’s roadmap to evolve into a developed nation. He added that economic and social development is taking place in an inclusive manner, leaving no one behind.

Bangladesh ambassador in Paris Kazi Imtiaz Hossain, senators Jacky Deromedi and Jerome Durain of the French Senate, and representatives from the French ministry of Europe, the foreign ministry of France, the embassy of France in Dhaka, the French Development Cooperation Agency, Business France, and MEDEF International also participated at the event. Earlier in the day, Momen held a meeting with Jean Baptiste Lemoyne, state secretary of the ministry for Europe and foreign affairs of France. Lemoyne is also in charge of French trade and investment.
