A group of teachers and students of Rajshahi University (RU) demonstrated on the campus yesterday demanding resignation of vice-chancellor Prof M Abdus Sobhan and pro-vice chancellor Prof Chawdhury Md Zakaria for their alleged involvement in different corruption and irregularities. They demonstrated in front of the university central library around 12pm yesterday. They also demanded justice for BUET student Abrar.

A demonstrator said they will continue the agitation programme until their demands are not met. He said, “We request the RU VC and Pro-VC to resign from their posts with honour as they are doing irregularities on the campus”. He also criticised the university administration for not taking any step after the irregularities in recruitment process at the law department come to light. Pragatishil Chhatra Jote, a progressive students' alliance, also formed human chain on the campus for the same reason.  A group of teachers and students have been demonstrating on since October 3, two-day after an audio clip went viral in social media where Choudhury M Zakaria was heard to ask the wife of a job seeker how much money they were ready to pay for the job.
